As he embarked on this project, artist Avner Moriah researched the relevant texts in the Torah that dealt with the gathering on Mount Sinai, Moses' ascents up the mountain, and the receiving of the written law. He also studied related imaginative Midrashim, searching for visual clues, and created hundreds of preliminary studies for the artwork.
The original mural is housed at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.
